Moss Vale War Memorial Aquatic Centre has some exciting upcoming renovations that were made possible after the centre received $589,000 as part of the NSW Government’s Regional Sports Facility Fund in 2021. This was also topped up by a $260,000 contribution from Wingecarribee Shire Council.
The funds will go towards the construction of a purpose-built fitness room as well as a fully accessible adult change facility.
“Part of that development will be a fully accessible adult changing bed with a roof hoist to help with the movement to and from a wheelchair, as well as a new aquatic wheelchair providing access to the pool,” said the centre’s facility manager, Kate Makin. “The other thing is that, once the upgrade is complete, the gym will go 24 hours”.
After receiving development approval from Council in 2020, plans were put on hold on account of the COVID-19 lockdowns. While the digging began last month, the work is expected to be completed in 12 to 14 weeks!
We are excited to see our development begin, so please be aware that parking in front of the facility will be limited and disrupted for the entirety of the build.
Make sure you keep an eye on our website and social media for updates over the coming weeks and months.
